FTX Tax Guide

CryptoTaxCalculator has made it really easy to account for your transactions on FTX by offering a direct import of the relevant CSV files, or via API keys. You can then easily calculate your financial year's short and long-term gains using various in-app inventory methods.

Using a CSV upload

  1. In the top right click on your username
  2. In the dropdown menu select trade history
  3. Click the 'Download CSV' button and upload to CryptoTaxCalculator
  4. If you traded future products you will need to import your PnL statement
  5. Click on your username and select 'PnL'
  6. Adjust the start time to the date you started trading
  7. Click the 'Download CSV' button and upload to CryptoTaxCalculator
  8. This will upload income earned from trading futures such as margin/perpetual contracts

Using an API key

  1. Log in to your FTX account and click on the Settings (gear) icon in the top right of the navbar to navigate to your profile (
  2. On the left side of the page click on 'Api'
  3. Make sure you have your main account selected
  4. Click the button 'CREATE READ-ONLY API KEY'. This will open a popup window with your newly created API information
  5. Copy the 'API key' and 'API secret' somewhere secure and click 'close' to close the dialogue
  6. You can now use the copied 'API Key' and 'API secret' to sync with your FTX API on CryptoTaxCalculator

Wrapping Up

This is the first step in calculating your crypto taxes, after this CryptoTaxCalculator can use the data to calculate your complete tax obligation and portfolio breakdown. If there are any missing transactions that couldn’t be captured from the import process you can add them manually using our Simple or Advanced manual CSV import.
