Preparing Your HitBTC Taxes
As the first step in your crypto tax process, you will need to upload all your transactions to Crypto Tax Calculator. For HitBTC there are two ways to do so, through an API upload or through a CSV history file upload. Either will work and allow Crypto Tax Calculator to calculate your crypto taxes and specifically your HitBTC tax obligation.
Using An API
The easiest way to transfer data is to generate an API key and share the details with Crypto Tax Calculator.
On HitBTC:
- Open the HitBTC API page
- Click the New API key button
- Enable the following two permissions: Order book, History, Trading balance Payment information Enter your two-factor authentication code Copy the API Key and Secret
On Crypto Tax Calculator: Once logged in navigate to the Import page and select HitBTC from the dropdown menu Paste in your API key, secret key, and passphrase used to create the API The process might take a few minutes but in the meantime, you can upload data from your other exchange accounts and wallets
Using a CSV upload
The alternative to using an API is downloading your transaction data from HitBTC and uploading the files to Crypto Tax Calculator.
On HitBTC:
- For trades: Select My Trades (https://hitbtc.com/reports/trades) under Reports. For deposits and withdrawals: Select Payment History (https://hitbtc.com/reports/history) under Reports
- Click Export as .csv
On Crypto Tax Calculator:
- Once logged in navigate to the import page
- Select HitBTC from the dropdown menu
- Click the import button and upload all the files you have downloaded from HitBTC
Wrapping Up
Once you have uploaded all your crypto data Crypto Tax Calculator can calculate your portfolio breakdown and crypto tax obligation. If for some reason you can’t upload your transactions you can add them individually on the review transactions page.
