How to submit your crypto taxes on MyTax
This is a basic guide on how to use Crypto Tax Calculator (CTC) to help you complete your Australian Taxation Office, MyTax, and Individual Tax Return for Australian residents.
Note: You can watch our Product Manager Matt walk through the process in a YouTube video here.
You will need to have first imported all your crypto exchange and wallet activity and reviewed any reconciliation warnings in Crypto Tax Calculator.
Next, prepare your CTC Capital Gains Report, if you’ve also participated in any crypto activity that the ATO deems to be income generating, and your CTC Income Report.
Example reports are included below, be sure to use your own data from your own reports. Finally, ensure you select the correct financial year when you are generating your reports. For example, if you are lodging for the 2021/2022 Financial year, the dates are 1st July 2021 - 30th June 2022.
Note: This guide gives an example of how tax can be reported to the ATO using CTC reports. Ensure to consult your accountant if you have any questions completing the form, as circumstances may vary depending on your individual situation. For example, if you are running a trading or mining crypto business, or you have recorded crypto taxable transactions in an SMSF, Company, or Trust, this guide will not cover those specific requirements.
